Sox Jersey Uncovered At New Yankee Stadium
The new Yankee Stadium seems to have been cursed…almost.
In New York recently, attempts were made to uncover a Boston Red Sox jersey that was supposedly buried underneath the new Yankee Stadium. Sure enough, after hours of jackhammering through cement, construction workers found a white, David Ortiz, #34 jersey buried along the third base side of the stadium.
A construction worker, Gino Castignoli, said he was contracted for work on the new stadium construction. Living in the Bronx, but being an avid Red Sox fan, Gino decided to turn the tides and try and put a curse on Yankee Stadium. He buried a Red Sox jersey under 2 feet of concrete.
Others who had worked with Gino remembered him and quickly phoned Yankee officials to assist the search. After five hours of work, the construction workers were able to locate the jersey and remove it from the stadium.
Kudos goes out to Gino Castignoli for this great prank. Although it did not fully succeed, it shows to what length Sox fans will go to take down their bitter rival. Chalk one up for Red Sox Nation.
